As the horrific fires in California are extinguished, an increasing number of church leaders in California are calling for a Day of Repentance on Sunday, November 17, 2017.

Calling for a “sacred assembly,” crying out for the Lord to heal their land, seeking God’s message in allowing the massive destruction, those pastors and priests will set aside time in their church services that day for prayers of repentance.

They believe that the Lord will then honor that repentance, will relent from bringing further harm, and instead will send “new wine and oil” to replace the wines lost in the fires. (Joel 2: 12-19).

No logistics, no costs are involved; just a process of getting the word out to pastors and priests through the State. They hope others in other States and nations will join them.

On November 10 and 11, just prior to the Day of Repentance, a “transformation intercession” conference, a time of repentance, fasting and praying for the nation, re-digging the wells of revival will be held in the very house in Los Angeles where the Azusa Holy Spirit revival began in 1906. November 12 also marks the date 168 years ago in 1849 when the citizens of California adopted a Constitution. Their Preamble stated: “We, the people of the State of California, grateful to Almighty God for our freedom, in order to secure and perpetuate its blessings, do establish this Constitution.”

Today acts of the legislature from abortion, to euthanasia, to same sex marriage, to refusal to honor federal laws on immigration, repeatedly go against the Almighty God in that Preamble. A spirit of self and rebellion against God’s Word has surfaced.

California has strayed from Him.

Thus the call for repentance. Believers in Christ will be encouraged that Day to repent from following other worldly gods, from fearing to speak out, from approving perverse practices, from failing to depend first on Almighty God for our freedom and His blessings. There will be repentance also for our apathy or even complicity in the wicked acts of our State government.

Repentance will bring the Lord’s wisdom and cleansing. For example, in these tourist areas, were citizens serving the god of mammon instead of Him, the Source of prosperity, the Living God?  As well, “first responders” are now being thanked, and neighbors are helping neighbors for a time, but before the devastation was Our Lord Jesus our First Responder?  Seeing how close they came to death, will those hundreds of thousands now claim Jesus as their First Responder?

Those urging a Day of Repentance on November 12 will seek to use His timeless, healing strategy. If they “turn from their own wicked ways” (2 Chronicles 7:14) God will hear from heaven, forgive sin and heal the land. He will relent and restore through repentance.

Jesus tells us not to put new wine into old wineskins. (Mark 2:22) Already one prophet has declared that this sacred assembly will cause new wine to flow from Him to replace the wine lost in the fires.

Set aside time on November 12 and join us, in California or in your own State or nation. Be a part of the ongoing fire of the Holy Spirit through repentance to cleanse us, His Bride.
